Amazon does not send non-compliant inventory back to your supplier — it charges you for the privilege of fixing it, strand it, or refuse it at the door. An FBA inspection moves every one of those failure points back to the factory, where corrections cost hours instead of weeks. This page is the checklist our inspectors run, and the account consequences it protects you from.

The FBA prep checklist, item by item

  • FNSKU scannability. Every sampled unit’s barcode is scan-tested; placement on a flat, unobstructed surface; no label covering seams, edges or another barcode; FNSKU matching the listing it was issued for.
  • Carton limits. Weight and dimensions checked against the current requirements for your destination marketplace, with heavy-carton indicators applied where thresholds demand them — limits change, so we verify against the rules in force at booking, not a poster in the factory.
  • Box-content accuracy. Carton labels matching the actual contents; no mixed ASINs where your shipment plan forbids them; the shipment-ID labels on every carton the plan names.
  • Polybag rules. Suffocation warning present, legible and correctly sized for the bag; bags transparent where required; the opening type the marketplace expects.
  • Prep specifics. Bubble wrap on fragile items, sealed closures, bundled sets sold as one unit, multipack banding — the prep types Amazon would otherwise bill you for at the fulfilment centre.
  • Compliance marks. Country of origin, destination-market safety markings and battery/lithium dangerous-goods packaging where the product category triggers them.

Prep failures and what they cost an account

Each checklist line exists because its failure mode has a price somewhere in Seller Central:

  • Unscannable or mismatched FNSKUs → units received as unfulfillable, stranded inventory, reimbursement claims that take weeks.
  • Overweight or oversized cartons → receiving refusal or unplanned handling charges at the fulfilment centre.
  • Missing polybag warnings → the entire inbound shipment can be refused, and re-prep fees land on your account, not the factory’s.
  • Wrong box content data → check-in delays and reconciliation disputes that can outlive the selling season the stock was bought for.

Fixing any of these at the factory is a same-day task — reprint a label, re-bag a unit, repartition a carton. Fixing them after arrival means pay-per-unit prep, stranded stock and account health metrics you will be explaining for months.

Failures we find most often at prep

  • FNSKU labels printed for an older listing version, or applied over the seam where scanners miss.
  • Cartons a kilo over the limit for the destination, discovered at the dock instead of at packing.
  • Polybags with warning text too small for the bag size, or missing on bags that clearly need it.
  • Box-content information that describes last month’s assortment rather than this one.
  • Battery products packed as general cargo instead of under the dangerous-goods rules.

All five are same-day fixes at the factory — and all five become account problems once the cartons are on a truck.

How the visit runs

The inspector works an AQL quality sample on the product itself plus a 100% check of labels, carton marks and shipment paperwork — and it can share the same visit as your pre-shipment inspection, with one combined English report within 24 hours. If issues surface, minor corrections are re-verified the same day; larger containment goes to our sorting and rework team.

Prep failures found late are recoverable here: goods can move to the Dongguan base for relabelling, re-bagging, re-packing and a fresh check before they re-enter the shipment plan — see rework and warehousing.

Booking notes

Send the marketplace, ASINs, FNSKU files and any category prep requirements with your PO to kelly@cgfiinspection.com; on WhatsApp or WeChat the same details reach 86-15306546882. Expect the fixed-fee quote by the next working day — and if the shipment calendar is tight, say so in the first message, since prep checks and a standard PSI can share one visit. The AQL calculator helps you set sampling levels for the product sample.
